Those of us with families know that locally we need more homes – but they must be built in a way that protects the environment and provides the infrastructure to support us all.

That is why local people need to decide where new homes should go, not Whitehall bureaucrats.

I will fight to protect the Green Belt and to stop the prolific development of back gardens where developers snap up large houses with land, knock them down and then squeeze a small estate of new homes on to the same plot.
