Matthew acknowledged National Apprenticeship Week by visiting the Grahame Park Campus of Barnet College to meet their three newest apprentices.
Accompanied by Christian Nicolaides, the Business Development Manager at Barnet College, Matthew met Daniel Ian Goode who is undertaking an Apprenticeship in Business Administration Level 2 and who works in the Business Development Unit; James Kelly who is undertaking an Apprenticeship in IT and works for the IT help desk, and Anthony Thandaven who is undertaking a Business Admin Level 3 and works for the Business Department.
Matthew said “The economic conditions we are experiencing as a result of Labour’s legacy have a disproportionate effect on younger people and I want the Business, Industry and Skills Department of Government to start introducing incentives so that employers seek to employ more apprentices. On-the-job experience is more valuable to employers than academic-based qualifications and apprenticeships provide this.”
