Matthew attended the Heybourne Park opening on the Grahame Park estate with Barnet Council’s Mayor Cllr Anthony Finn and the Cabinet Member for Housing, Planning and Regeneration, Cllr Richard Cornelius. Grahame Park is Barnet Council’s largest housing estate with 1,777 homes built in the 1970s. The regeneration is a core part of the Colindale Area Action Plan which will raise the standard of housing and commerce across Colindale.
The project is an example of how Barnet Council is working to achieve the Mayor of London’s aim to raise aspiration and promote opportunity by increasing the chance of home ownership through providing more affordable housing, and by improving environments to transform neighbourhoods.
Matthew said, “Just a few days after the London Mayor announced the completion of homes in Edgware, the Mayor of Barnet announces the completion of the first phase of the Grahame Park regeneration – showing that the progress of providing new and affordable housing continues in this constituency. As a Councillor this was a project that I was collectively involved with and I am pleased that the Mayor was able to see the completion of the project, even during these difficult financial times. This is a result of voting Conservative in local and national elections and an example of my commitment to ensuring that no-one is left behind. “
