Over 300 local residents joined Matthew, Cllr Anthony Finn, Cllr Brian Coleman and Cllr Mark Shooter for the official opening of Brent Park play area in Hendon. The Park was something that Matthew worked to introduce in his final year as a Councillor before being elected as Hendon’s MP. Popular with local children, and their parents, the site has been transformed from a piece of grass into a modern and exciting play space.
Matthew said: “I am tremendously excited to see the playground now in use by local people. We went through a very difficult process to make this happen but everybody now agrees that the effort was worth it. The play equipment is sympathetic to the ground and has been incorporated into the grass banks. The site is particularly fortuitous as it is already covered by CCTV. This, and the presence of a play site, also makes the area safer for people when they use Brent Park to visit roads around and go to Kinloss. This is a fantastic scheme and I am very proud of it.”
