Matthew was pleased to accompany local resident Lachhya Gurung to a Diwali Party at 10 Downing Street.
Mr Gurung, Chairman of the Burnt Oak Nepalese Community, organises language classes for Ghurkha veterans and their families, helps newly arrived Nepalese community members settle into the UK by assisting them to find places to live, jobs, and schools for their children, and organises the annual Nepali community programme.
Matthew said: “I have come to know Lachhya well over the years and I was delighted that he accepted my invitation to attend the Diwali celebrations at 10 Downing Street and also meet the Prime Minister. It was a great event for the many people who are involved in their local cultural and religious communities and a fantastic way to celebrate this important festival.”
